A conspiracy theory that started way back in 1811 would be BIGFOOT! We have all heard stories about Bigfoot on whether this creature is real or just made up. Some other names for Bigfoot is a Yeti or Sasquatch. Bigfoot was first seen in Canada in 1811 then was seen in California in 1958 by Jerry Crew. These guys didn't actually see Bigfoot they only found HUGE footprints, which is how this creature got its name of Bigfoot. They also have found hair that is said to be from Bigfoot itself! The actual first sight of Bigfoot was in 1967 when Roger Patterson and Bib Gimlin claimed to have the first video capture of Bigfoot. This video only contained seconds of what they thought was a female, hairy creature, walking away and turning to look at the camera. This video was claimed to be the best evidence that this creature actually existed.
Some people believe that the Patterson/Grimlin video was a hoax. One of the main reasons why people thought this is because people started taking pictures of themselves or others in a costume that is said to be Bigfoot. People found out that these pictures were fake because people confessed to buying a costume and just wearing to take a picture so they could say they found Bigfoot. When these pictures were created, people then wondered if the Patterson/Grimlin video could be fake and if they had done the same thing.
They say that over 3,700 people have seen Bigfoot, either in the United States or in Canada. I feel like this is a lot of sightings for a creature that is so rare. Even though there are 4,000 to 6,000 of these creatures that roam the forests of North America. So some of these sightings, or a majority of them have to made up. People believe that Bigfoot is half man half ape. This creature is said to be Seven (7) foot, six and a half (6 1/2) inches tall and weighing roughly between 600 to 900 pounds. I couldn't even imagine seeing something that big.
Another reason not many people believe in Bigfoot is because noone has found any bones of this creature. You would think if Bigfoot is real that they would have found bones already since they have been looking for them. Scientists have said that the reason they haven't found any bones is because the forest doesn't preserve bones very well. Since bigfoot is said to be found in a forest environment this explains why they haven't found any of their bones yet. Its very hard to believe in Bigfoot when their missing so much evidence like bones!
Evidence that the scientists do have, are outlines of the foot of Bigfoot. They have 100's of different examples of feet that belong to Bigfoot. Their feet are not like human feet they are very flat and lack the arch, like a human foot has. A man named Ray Wallace is known for having fake footprints of Bigfoot. What Ray Wallace does is take an outline of a big foot made out of wood. He makes it out of wood because it resembles the footprint the best. The wood is extremely flat making the footprints flat which then look like the real footprints of Bigfoot. Some of the footprints found by scientists are somewhat different, like some footprints have 4 toes while others have as many as 6 toes. This just makes it even harder to make it seem like Bigfoot is real.
January 2010 scientist Jeff Meldrum and his partners made a show about all the hoaxs of Bigfoot and made them believe that they were not true. American Paranormal-Bigfoot is what it was called. In this show they talk you through all the evidence that has been found and explain to you how it can be real. They do experiments kind of like how Mythbusters do but in an less extreme way. Bill Munns got the original footage of the video Patterson and Grimlin, which was the first sighting of Bigfoot. He goes through each scene very carefully so he can examine it even better. Some of the experiments they perform are trying to have a human walk and act like Bigfoot as seen on the video, they measured and examined the footprints, and also got a hair sample. What I found really interesting is that they got a hair sample which didn't match any of the other animals that would be in the forest. It did come close to a gorilla's hair and animals of that nature. Bigfoot is found to be more like a gorilla then a human, it has more qualities of the gorilla. For me I think that it is very possible for Bigfoot to be real with all the research that I did. Its still not a 100% real animal or creature, and we will not know until the scientists find bones or a body that they can test out.
